Emotional coaching combined with cognitive strategy training is most effective in improving memory

The advantages of the combined emotion-cognition intervention technique are reflected in three aspects. First, the combined emotion-cognitive training effectively improves the emotional problems of older adults, which improves the subjective experience of participating in the intervention, increases the compliance with the intervention, and reduces the risk of cognitive impairment in older adults. Secondly, the combined emotional-cognitive training was more effective in improving cognition than traditional cognitive training. Third, the investigators developed an emotional-cognitive intervention program that achieved greater and more widespread training benefits with only three additional group interventions compared to traditional cognitive training, with high intervention efficiency. This study suggests that the inclusion of an emotional intervention component in cognitive interventions for older adults has positive implications for enhancing the effectiveness of the intervention. The results of resting-state functional brain imaging also support these findings.
